Uzma Khan's Fundraiser

I’m reaching out to share two causes that matter deeply to me and to invite you to support my personal fundraising campaign with Muslim Welfare Canada (MWC).

MWC operates the Arctic Food Bank, established in 2015 to address extreme food insecurity in Canada’s North, specifically in Inuvik and Iqaluit. Every two weeks, the food bank supports 80–120 families in communities where access to affordable, nutritious food remains a serious challenge.

MWC also runs the Fill‑A‑Backpack Program, which has distributed over 25,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need since 2014, including in the GTA and northern communities. In 2026, the goal is to distribute 2,500 backpacks, with a focus on Indigenous students in the North.

As part of this effort, I’m fundraising for both initiatives. A $100 food basket supports one family, and my goal is to support at least 15 families. Each backpack costs $25, and my goal is to fund 60 backpacks, for a total fundraising target of $3,000.

In June, I’ll be travelling with MWC to Inuvik to volunteer on the ground — supporting the food bank, helping distribute backpacks, and engaging with the local community. I’ll also be honoured to participate in the National Indigenous Peoples Day Festival on June 21.

If you’re able to contribute, your support will directly provide food security and educational resources to families and children in Canada’s North. I will be covering all travel and accommodation costs personally, so 100% of your donation goes directly to the cause.
