Arctic Food Bank (Hassan Phills)

I'm taking my tour somewhere most comedians never go — the Arctic Circle.

I'll be travelling north to visit all three Arctic food banks: Iqaluit, Inuvik, and the brand-new Fort McPherson location opening soon. And I'm not showing up empty-handed.

Here's the part that isn't a joke: feeding a family in Canada's North is brutally hard. Groceries that cost you $50 down south can run two to three times that up here. A bag of apples, a box of formula, a carton of milk — basics most of us never think twice about — become impossible choices for families above the Arctic Circle.

The Arctic Food Bank is the safety net for those communities. And right now, with a new location opening in Fort McPherson, they need stocked shelves more than ever.

So I set a goal: $2,000 to help fill those shelves before I roll into town.

Every dollar goes directly to the three northern food banks through Muslim Welfare Canada. You don't have to brave –40° to make a difference up here — you just have to chip in.
